Nursing Intake 2026 Requirements

To qualify for the Gauteng Nursing Diploma 2026 intake, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

General Requirements

• Must be a South African citizen living in Gauteng Province.
• Be in possession of a Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate (NSC), National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health), or currently in Grade 12 (meeting requirements with Grade 11 results).
• Must register and apply online via the GPG Professional Job Centre system.

Subject & Academic Requirements

Senior Certificate

• English HG D or SG C
• Biology HG D or SG C
• Mathematics HG D or SG C
• M-score of 17

National Senior Certificate (NSC)

• English Level 4
• Life Sciences Level 4
• Mathematics Level 4 OR Maths Literacy Level 5
• APS score of 27+ (Life Orientation counts half)

National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health)

• 50% in fundamental subjects: English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation
• 60% in vocational subjects: SA Health Care System, Public Health, Human Body & Mind, Community-Oriented Primary Care

Grade 12 learners (currently in Matric)

• Must meet NSC requirements using final Grade 11 results.
