Objectives

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is recruiting 200 new Metro Police Trainees to undergo an 18-month training programme. This entry-level opportunity is open to applicants from all races, genders, and especially encourages persons with disabilities and underrepresented groups to apply.

Duties and responsibilities 

Upon successful completion of the programme, trainees will be deployed to perform key municipal policing roles including:

• Traffic law enforcement (National Road Traffic Act)
• By-law enforcement
• Crime prevention

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate (must be submitted as proof).
• Manual driver’s licence (you will be tested on this).
• No criminal record or pending cases.
• Must reside within the City of Tshwane (proof of residence and affidavit required).
• Age between 18 and 35 years.
• Medically fit (provide a valid medical certificate).
• Must pass a physical fitness test, psychometric assessment, and an English proficiency test.
• No visible tattoos when in uniform.
• Must not be listed on any sexual or child offender registers.
• Must not have been dismissed for misconduct from a government job.
