Role Summary – Pharmacist Assistant Learner

The Pharmacist Assistant Learner will assist in the provision of medication and supplementary pharmaceutical services to patients and members of the healthcare team. All duties are performed under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist.

The role focuses on delivering responsible, patient-centred, and cost-effective pharmaceutical services while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Operational Excellence

The learner will be involved in stock control and administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Participating in cyclical and full stock-taking processes

  • Assisting with procurement and ethical stock control

  • Processing stock for internal departments and inter-clinic sales

  • Managing stock in accordance with Netcare Stock Management policy

  • Conducting administrative and housekeeping tasks

  • Following up on outstanding medication for patients

  • Performing duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist

  • Ensuring compliance with regulations set by the South African Pharmacy Council

This experience provides strong exposure to pharmacy operations and inventory management systems.

Key duties include:

  • Assisting the pharmacist in all aspects of dispensing

  • Picking and packaging medication under supervision

  • Capturing dispensed items on patient accounts according to medical aid TTO rules

  • Capturing patient profiles on the Unisolve system

  • Processing prescriptions on the Unisolve system

  • Assisting with monthly chronic medicine recall
